Filming mens social group

Sun 2nd Feb – (Mary and Azza)

We went to film the mens group one more time to get some better footage. Last time we went we managed to have the camera on a wrong setting meaning that the image display is really small when the footage is put into Premiere. Although we can use a split screen or zoom in, we thought it would be a good idea to re-film the group.

It was mostly the same people as last time, and they recognised us which made the process easier. This time however we forgot to bring the battery which had been on charge, so we had to faff around for a while trying to get a replacement. Once this was sorted we got some good footage of the men socialising: chatting, eating, laughing. Last weeks footage was quite serious as it was a council meeting so it was good that we got to capture the other side of the group. At one point, one of the men even performed a song, we caught it on camera, but I don’t think it would be appropriate for the final cut!

We then re interviewed one of the men from the Bathiak group who we had spoken to the week before. The interview was very specific on details of the mens group (e.g. what time it starts, what kind of meals they eat) these things are not relevant to Hamara as a whole so we can’t use in the final video. There were however a few comments that could be really useful, positive remarks about enjoyment and how the centre has made the group possible, so we can include these parts.
